If you follow any bloggers or love Nordstrom, you probably already know it’s time for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I’m a few days late with this post, but if you’re a Nordstrom cardholder you’ve already had early access to the famous #nsale for several days. I’ll be honest, I am a picky shopper and just because something is on sale, doesn’t mean I’ll bite. Quality and re-wearability (just made that word up) are key. So with that being said, I’ve gone through all 68 pages of the women’s sale so you don’t have to, and chosen my top picks.

You can shop my favorite items (seriously, these are the items I would buy out of the thousands on the site) by directly clicking on the image. Happy Shopping babes! Can’t wait to see what you pick out!

1. adidas crop hoodie

Still feeling the athleisure trend, pair these with your favorite leggings for a sleek look.

2. steve madden ‘claara’ sandal

I love Steve Madden shoes, tan suede is SO flattering, plus block heels are guaranteed to be comfortable. It’s a total win in my book.

3. alo ‘motion’ leggings

Alo leggings are AMAZING. I am totally obsessed with the color and mesh blocking on this pair.

4. nars ‘nordstrom’s best’ cheek palette

I’m a self proclaimed narsissist and this palette is such a great value. If you don’t own any Nars blushes (or even if you do!), be sure to pick up this palette.

5. astr stripe romper

ASTR is one of my new favorite brands for affordable and on trend pieces that are flattering and perfect for any occasion. This striped romper would be so cute to wear on the weekend…

6. mara hoffman twist front one piece swimsuit

talk about a one-piece suit that is on fire! This particular suit has been sold in several other prints, but this one seems to be an exclusive for the Nordstrom Anniversary sale and I am seriously considering adding it to my swimsuit collection!

7. blank nyc ‘easy rider’ faux leather moto jacket

I’ve talked about Blank NYC before – I love their denim but their faux leather pieces are also on point, especially for the price!

Hiiiii! I just got back from Palm Springs and am off to Mexico later this week! Lots of exciting stuff – I haven’t taken a big trip since Thailand (trip recaps here and here) and have been itching to travel. Oh, and if you haven’t already, feel free to add me on Snapchat to follow along: amylzhang. Now, moving on to talking about summer dresses…

I’ve always been more of a dress/skirt kind of gal over pants, especially in the summer when the ideal outfit is something lightweight and breathable. See some of my previous posts on dresses (boho maxis, wrap dresses here and here, and off the shoulder frocks) for some options.

3 Summer Dresses

As much as I love maxis, a good mini dress (remember this Jen’s Pirate Booty dress??) is the way to go when the temperatures rise. Some of my favorite options for summer dresses include:

The Little White Dress (LWD)

I would choose an all white ensemble over all black any day, especially in the summer when you’re rocking a tan (real or fake). Bright white is my absolute favorite color to wear, the only downside is many pieces end up having to go to the dry cleaners often. The key is to choose fabrics that are easily washable, if you go with materials that need to be dry cleaned such as silk, it’s best to be very careful when you’re out and about!

Cut Outs

My preferred way to show just a little skin. Showing some skin is totally acceptable in summer dresses. I like cutouts that are subtle, backless anything is a yes in my book as well. This dress is another steal from the Reformation sample sale that I loved so much, I actually got in two colors. Speaking of which, I’m totally obsessed with sample sales now.

Slip Dresses

Slip dresses still get my vote for versatile, effortless piece you need in your closet (remember this velvet number?) Wear it on its own, over a bralette (or even better, a chain bra!) or layer it over a T-shirt. The options are surprisingly endless. Go for silky or velvety slip dresses, you may look like you just rolled out of bed, but in the best way possible.

Which of these summer dresses styles will you be rocking this summer?

Reformation Tulum Two Piece

Reformation Tulum Two Piece

I’m going to Tulum next week – I could. not. be. more. excited!!! – and being the Type A planning personality I am, I’ve already started packing… lol. I’m envisioning lots of swimsuits (duh), bright colors and prints, and breezy fabrics when thinking about packing for Tulum.

Packing for Tulum: Mexico on My Mind

I bought this Reformation Tulum two piece set (appropriately named) at the LA sample sale a few weeks ago. My favorite trends this year have been, by far, matching two piece sets and off the shoulder everything. This particular outfit combines both and comes in a linen fabric that, despite the midi length of the skirt, keeps you cool in the summer heat. And who doesn’t love pockets? I’m obsessed.

June in Mexico is hot, hot, hot. Providing it does not rain the whole time (fingers crossed!), we plan on spending our time exploring the ruins, swimming the cenotes, and relaxing along the beach. I’ve already made an itinerary for the full five days (shocker) but would love to hear any recommendations you have.

What I’m Packing

I can’t wait to share a full Tulum trip recap with you! In the meantime, here’s what I currently have in my shopping bag that I’m lusting after – these pieces are perfect for any beach vacation! You can click on the image directly to shop the items, or see their descriptions below!

1. marysia antibes bikini – red hot scalloped bikini perfect for the beach

2. lack of color russo hat – love this giant hat to keep your face shielded from the intense sun. my only question is, how do you pack this?!

3. shashi belly tote – a straw beach bag is ideal for carrying the essentials

4. raye drew sandal – espadrilles with the tiniest wedge to go with all of your outfits

5. madewell slide sandals – easy slip ons for the girl on the go

6. nightcap seashell lace robe – the perfect kimono to wear over your swimsuit

7. minkpink tropical dream romper – obsessed with this printed romper

8. show me your mumu get twisted maxi – this technicolor kaftan screams island party

Are you travelling at all this summer? And, have you ever been to Tulum?? If so, what are the must dos/see/eat?! Thanks babes.

xx, Amy
